Cbinvb's Madass 2.0

Postby Cbinvb » 01 Nov 2010 16:28

Hey guys, here's my build. I've done tons of little custom fabrications and alterations that improve on the original. Its been really fun to put this all together. Let me know how you like it.

Awesome mods Cb. A new paint job and some professional love on that seat upholstery and it should be looking incredible.

No air filter yet? The K&N looks great on the VM26, though your VM26 looks a bit different than mine. My choke pulls in and out rather than being a lever. Also have a different sort of idle screw.

Where did you pick up the dashboard? It looks great.

Where did you get the handlebar controls? My plastic crap is cracking from me tightening the screws a little too much one too many times.

Where did you get the shock from? I'm wondering if they might have one size in between the stock size and what you have.

Where did you get the brembo rear master cylinder? Model number? Did it fit the stock mounting holes?

Cheers,

G.

Looks great. The wire tuck has really cleaned it up. You gotta post up where you got your parts. Especially the Brembo rear master cylinder. My rear brake sucks and needs some tlc!

Thanks guys.

I got the master cylinder from ebay, it was from a ktm model. Sorry, but i can't remember which, it sat in the garage for 2 months before I installed it. I'm sure if you hunt ebay with the search "ktm master" or "ducati master" something similar will pop up, and no it didn't quit fit the stock mounting holes so I drilled and tapped a new hole.

I got the dash from ebay too. Its called the "Daytona Asura Multicomputer" and I'll tell yah why I picked this over a Koso or some other nice dash. This was the only dash that I found that I could use all of the features on. I would hate to have an indicator always blinking or remaining inert for one reason or another. The asura does have a gas gauge but it shares a indicator lights with the RPM. You can either show RPM or the fuel level but not both at the same time. So this was the perfect fit for the madass. Plus it has all the other goodies like oil temp, neutral light, high beam indicator, speed, etc. And another cool thing is that, even tho this unit came with a speed sensor and magnet, I was able to splice the madass speedo sensor right up to this thing and it works like a charm. Super stoked about how well that turned out but I'll end up shortening the custom mounting brackets to keep it from sticking so far out there. It's waterproof too!

The right handle bar control came from ebay too, see a pattern here? Ha. If you type in "right control 7/8 bar" and check the box to search title and descriptions you will get a bunch of hits that are compatible. You just have to use the wiring diagram to get it hooked up correctly. Really happy about that purchase too.
ALOOMINUM! tap tap tap tap...lol.

So the shock is for a Yamaha 135 LC. And I bought it from a website called http://www.motomalaya.net But its not listed on the website so you'll have to email the owner for a custom request. The shock cost me $182.oo to have it here in three business days. If you look at the blog version of motomalay it's list on there and the owner can get all the parts that are listed on the blog even if it's not listed in his store. Greg you will have to scour through the YSS thailand website to find a suitable length.

Yea, I'll have a pod air filter soon. It was kind of an after-though cuz it was such an easy thing to do, lol.

I have to say this bike is awesome! I know we all have our own styles but the way you're putting this bike together speaks to me. It's all about fuctionality and reliability geared towards Speed! I can't wait to hear this engine roar!

Good news guys, I found a source for the master pump brake light switch like mine.

This is the bolt/switch only, no master pump. Then you can get your own, any color or use it with your stock master.

I was astonished that none of the neighbors called the police. I musta bombed up that road a dozen or so times trying to get the jetting right. On a Sunday morning no less!

But seriously, running 17/37 sprocket combo, this thing is scary fast. Luckily my brembo caliper is in the mail. :D

Can you give some more details about the billet clutch? Did you have to get your primary gear machined or change out some gears or something?

I bought this clutch basket because it has monster cush drive rubbers which take a lot of stress off the motor when shifting aggressively. Pitster will ship it machined or with the proper primary gear attached (if you ask) so all you have to do it get the stock clutch out of the side access hole then pop this sexy thing in.

Very cool ride. Great job.

Personally I'd stick with the orange. Not too many MA's sporting that color 'round these parts.

Stick with the orange...make it a pearl effect though, like Europe Ford Focus RS has.

Just a sample pic to show you the color

Yeah, that orange on the car Chris posted is real nice. Looks modern.

I also like the more metallic orange on this bike, with the same color on the triple tree and shocks:

What would look really slick would be that metallic orange overall faded into a darker but subdued orangish-red towards the bottom of the frame.

Either that or a Hello Kitty pink
